Giles family move to Austin, TX

Okay I'm going to resurrect this family blog in order to keep family and friends updated on how things are going in Austin, TX.   We haven't opened up a Facebook account yet, but after all the threats for us to join I think we might.  I can't make any promises.  However, until that moment I will be using this social media resource to put pictures and journal our adventures here.   This will mean that I have to be responsible and bring our camera with us where we go... which is a good thing because it helps me keep a better record.
It was a lot of work getting her and a lot of work after getting here... so I think exhaustion is the best word to describe the moving process.  I will spare you the details.  I will say this.. We are so grateful for all the family and friends who helped us in this process.  I think it's safe to say we would never have made it this far without the help of my parents.  They dedicated so much time, love, and sacrifice into getting us here.  Thank you!

Austin is nothing like I expected.. When I envision Texas I think of flat and dry. Which is totally not Austin.  Austin is beautiful!  Green rolling hills filled with beautiful landscape.  We have been impressed with everything we have thus far experienced.  The food.... need I say more.  We went to Saltlick restaurant last night.  OMG it was soooo good.  It was right in the middle of a gorgeous vineyard, with stone walls and fabulous food.  My favorite BBQ thus far.  Coming to Austin that is a must on the restaurant scene.
We tried to go see the famous bats flying out from the bottom of the Congress bridge, but they never flew.  We think it had something to do with the full-moon.. So we will be trying that one again.

Kayla is making this transition very well.  She has a heart for adventure and new anything. Corbin  is struggling with the change.  I think we need to get out and meet some kids his age.  With settling in we haven't really had a chance, or I haven't had the energy, but we will.  He keeps saying everything in Utah is better and he wants to go back.  It breaks my heart, but I've been just talking him through it and trying to help him see the adventure behind it.  He misses his friends in Utah and when Nannie and Pappie left you could see the moving to Texas thing became real.

JP loves his job!!  He is meeting so many new people and gaining such a great experience.  Overall, I would say we are doing well!  We live in a great area!  Which is all I really cared about.  The home we are renting is very cute and comfy.  We are so grateful to be here and are excited for all the memories that are to be had.  Stay tuned and I will post pictures soon.

Have a great week!

Amber
