Amber left this weekend on a little excursion with the girls, taking Kayla with her and leaving Corbin and me behind, so my boy and I had some good daddy-son time. I quickly realized though how much I’ve taken for granted all that Amber does. Within no time, the house was trashed and the laundry was 3 feet tall. It’s funny how you don’t realize it though until you FINALLY get a moment to yourself when they take a nap and then realize your surroundings!
Everyone always talks about the amount of clothes the kids go through each day, but they fail to mention the amount of times the parents have to change their clothes. I’m wearing my third set today!
Corbin and I have had a great time this weekend! We went to the BYU vs. Utah baseball game on Friday night with some friends. I was curious to see how well he would do at his first baseball game and he loved it! He kept shouting non-sense to go along with the crowd. Funny thing was he kept shouting even when it got quiet but the fans all around us loved it. Our fun ran out though when I suddenly got a whiff of that smell that is now all too distinctive. Corbin had a blow out. I took him to the bathroom and realized I didn’t have any wipes! All weekend I never had everything I needed in the diaper bag. I’ve relied too much on Amber for these things! Needless to say, we couldn’t stay to see what would become a fantastic game, but BYU ended up losing in the last inning.
We spent most of Saturday at the park. Corbin could spend all day there. Where do these kids get all their energy? When we got home, I put on a movie and held Corbin in my arms to put him down for a nap and the next thing I knew he was pulling back my eyelids and yelling “Daddy! Get up!” in my ear. I was so exhausted.
I’ve always known that Amber is an amazing mother and wife, but really didn’t realize to what extent she goes through throughout the day taking care of our kids and still managing to keep our home in order and having meals prepared—and those are just the basics! I don’t know that I would have the energy, but at the end of the day when I get home she always has a smile on her face. She’s the most patient and loving person I know and I’m so blessed to have her as my wife.
At least you did it! Lots of dads can't do it by themself. That's funny you had no wipes. And if I had to guess another person particular about their hair, it would def be YOU!! I hope amber had fun..where did they go.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm gonna cry... :) Sweet.
