"Fire in the Bones"
I am currently reading "Fire in the Bones" another time. I always have to read things multiple times to get the information to stick. This book is fascinating. I love learning more about what it took to get the Bible to us. It's a pretty incredible journey that "William Tyndale" took as well as many others.
I read an impactful statement last night that I wanted to share with everyone...
He wrote, "God looketh not first on the work as the world doth, as though the beautifulness of the work pleased him as it doth the world, or as though he had need of them. But God looketh first on thy heart...he looketh with what heart thou workest, and not what thou workest; how thou acceptest the degree that he hath put thee in, and not of what degree thou art, whether thou be an apostle or a shoemaker."
Loved it!!
Also he said, "...character is forged in the fire of adversity and disappointment,.."
Anyways, just thought I would share. My family is doing well. We had the opportunity to go to "The Sound of Music," musical. My kids were enchanted. It was an incredible performance, and we were able to get seated right up front where my kids would be totally involved with the magic of the show. I felt like a kid again listening to some of my favorite songs. Corbin has been singing the lyrics of the music for the last two weeks.
We went swimming at a place here called Barton Springs. Everyone told me that it was a natural spring, and therefore it was cold water. Just to make things clear it was FREAKING cold water. I would be sure to clarify that to anyone I recommended to go there. Fun, yes, but definitely cold. As we were getting in a lady was trying to comfort Corbin and Kayla about getting in and she said, " give a few minutes and everything numbs up and then you don't even notice it's cold anymore." What! That didn't make me want to stay in and find out, but to get out before it was too late. Despite the cold we did have fun. :)
We also went to Sea World last week!! The last time that I went to Sea World, I think, I was in the first grade. We weren't able to get to Disney Land this year because of the move, so this was the next best thing. For my kids this could have been better! We went with Davina and her two kids Diego and Aurora. We spent the first half of the day at the Aquatica. Which for those of you who don't know is the new water park in the San Antonio, Sea World. It was huge! I think you could be there a week and still not have gone on all the slides and pools. We had a blast. Davina and her kids had to go after that, but I stayed with my kids to see the animals and to go to some of the shows. You should have seen Kayla's face when the Walrus came out. Lol She said, "What the heck is that?" The Shamu show was Corbin's favorite. He had a smile painted across his face for the entire thing. We walked back to our car thoroughly exhausted. Corbin fell asleep the minute he hit his car seat. It was so funny because while he was sleeping he shot up and began singing, "I love rock n roll" laughing and then went right back to sleep. I was pretty sure he had a fun day. We will definitely be going back.

ReplyDelete1-I totally want to read that book now. I love the quotes you shared. Especially "character is forged in the fire of adversity and disappointment,..." Isn't that the truth? Wow. I just read a quote that I liked: "The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. 2-I really love The Sound of Music and I think you should video Corbin singing some of the songs and then send them to me. :)
3-The cold water at Barton Springs made me laugh because when I hiked into Calf Creek Falls in Escalante National Monument a couple of years ago, it was so hot and tiring in the blazing sun, but I knew we were hiking to the falls were we could dip in the water. When we arrived at the falls it was shady and relaxing and then I dipped my feet in the water pool at the base of the falls... FUH-REEEEEEEZING! Way way way too cold to go swimming like I'd wanted to. And so sad because I was so hot on the hike, but it was too cold to feel refreshed in the water. :)
4-I laughed out loud when I read Kayla's reaction to the walrus! I can totally see her face.
